Ten year old C63 is not a good idea. Also the gas tank is puny.

Really? I thought that model of C class was the most reliable car MB made since 2000.

Is there a problem specific to the C63?

Such beautiful car, and that one only had like 30,000 miles on it. I still might keep an eye out for one.

Most in MB terms  C is their bread and butter so it is the least troublesome model, AMGs however are not regular C. Granted that one only had 30k mi but cars do age even if you don't drive them. Especially when you are talking about twin turbo. My buddy had a 2006 C63.

I (well my mechanic) had to pull the engine out of the 2006 E350 4matic to replace the balancing shaft at around 110k km because the chain ate the sproket. The SBC (brake master cylinder) failed, but at least MB replaced it under warranty though it was out of warranty. Just had one of the belt pulley replaced and brake line replaced. The brake line is a three hour job. The pulley was plastic to make the engine quieter so maybe on the amg they use metal ones.

Check if it has 440 package installed. Improved engine oil cooling.

If I bought a car like this for 17-18 grand I wouldn't have an issue just adding $5000 to the purchase price to maintain it. I wouldn't go into the 20s for one. There are other cars I'd rather have at that level.

They were like $70,000 new, weren't they?

The SBC module is C$2500 new...mind you that is probably an MB Canada issue, stuff is just more expensive here.

It was a weird experiment for MB. It has it's own auxilliary auxilliary battery, which dies every three years.

Average reliability on the w204 C class is supposedly about Honda's average. Granted a c63 isn't a normal C. I'd be more worried about the fact that it's a 2008. IIRC that's the first model year of the w204. First couple years had a lot more issues. If I were buying a used w204 I'd shoot for a 2011+ min. That's past where I heard about some recurring issues. 2012+ If you're getting a 4matic. The transfer case on the early ones had some issues and the revised 7g+ transmission came out in 2012. RWD doesn't care.

At first I thought you meant an M1A1. Still a little disappointed but the M1 is cool.

BaT has great deals sometimes. I saw a 2015 S Class go for about $35k once.
