I wanna see what all the fuss is about ;) thanks.
I'm in! (thanks to linuxidiot!) it's pretty fast too, much faster than friendster (then again it only has 65k people).

From what I've heard, it's a Friendster-like service run by Google.

I'm not a member, though, so I can't give ya any details. Can someone PM me an invite?

damn orkut sucks... I got invited and I try to sign up and I keep getting a server error message.

at first I was trying to get a user name and it was taken so I entered another and it said it was taken (I think there's something wrong with the script because the second name I entered was VERY abstract and nobody could have it). So I redo the application from the start and all it says is "No Donut for you" and something about orkut's server acting up. Now I think all the usernames I wanted are some how registered as taken but not actually taken.

Just email their CS. They are very friendly and can reset it so you can register again.

I'll do that, but everybody's saying it's not worth it. I guess it's one of those pandora box things for me ;)
edit: so uh.. what's their email address?
edit again: n/m I'm blind.

I think it's pretty cool. It's like Friendster but looks better and runs much faster. And it's run by Google, so you can't go wrong.

i think it's kinda stupid...b/c when I was making my username (juleebabee)..it said I couldn't b/c I had a dirty word in my name or something. What part of Julee or Babee = dirty???

but yea....in order to be invited ....yuo need to give your first name, last name and email..so someone can add you to their list.

I'm open for PM's...if anyone wants me to invite them.

I enjoy it but the only gripe i have is people sending messages out to everyone including friends of friends... I had to disable that setting cuz some lady kept sending out friends of friends messages spamming FWD:'s about causes she liked... ugh.....

The only problem I see with Orkut is if too many people get invite and it turns into a boasting thing. On Friendster, some people have links to adult entertainment stars, celebrities (fake accounts), etc...all so they can say "I am liked to 250,000 people".

You are supposed to have your friends in your circle, that strangers.
