Clarify.

Someone you know is 65+ served in the military for a year, was discharged and wants to know if they get some type of monetary benefit for the service?

Is that what you're asking?

you don't get any retirement benefit from the military unless you are in for 20 years

military benefits don't have anything to do with social security

It was a year or less and he was discharged. He's retiring at 62. And yes, will there be any monetary benefit.
