and the old lady that did it actually had the civic-mindedness to actually report it after she got home! Well, actually the cop that came over said that she was scared out of her wits... paranoia I guess.
My bro had parked to the side of our house as usual when I'm out since my car is the garage queen and when he went outside to head out for band practice, he noticed the driver's side front fender smashed in so hard that the fender was actually stuck against the tire.
The lady musta backed up into it something fierce! The wheel was actually turned quite a bit from the impact. My bro couldn't even open the drivers side door... we had to pry the friggin fender out of the wheelwell so he could drive it into our driveway. We reported it to the police and they listed it as a hit & run and all that... thankfully liability covers it. My bro said the steering felt weird during turns... I bet some parts of the steering like the tie rods might be damaged.
My neighbor in the apartment next to us said that her husband saw 2 red trucks that day. The cops noticed some reddish/pink powdery residue so we knew it wasn't our neighbor (green minivan and silver bug). The cops even checked all the cars in the small lot next to the house and actually rang the doorbell to tell us that she called about an hour afterward. I knew there were some upstanding cops out there! 🙂
The car used to be my old '95 Neon Sport sedan... originally purchased new by my dad. I'm hoping they finally total the car... is there anyway to make that happen? This car's been so banged up since I gave it back to my dad (I bought myself the Eclipse GST I'm driving now) that there's got to be some serious frame damage.
