Someone help me track down this motherboard!

A guy i know is selling a motherboard with a P3 800 CPU. Now, i won't see him for awhile, and before i start bargaining, i need to know how much the mobo costs. But he doesn't know the model. All i know about it is that it's an ASUS "with 1050 or 1070 in it's name" that can run a P3 800. Does anyone have any idea what mobo he's talking about or how much the board alone would cost new?

well, it would help if you could tell me if its a socket 370 or slot 1 motherboard.

as a general assumption, a new asus pentium III mobo would cost around $30-$45 online for those based on the 440bx chipset... and around $50-$80 if its based on the 800 series chipset.. you need to a bit more specific.

Dude, unless you can give us more info, we have no help to give you. Asus model numbers don't have 1050-like numbers in them. You need to find out what he is selling.

Yeah, guess i'm out of luck. Ah well, i'm still buying it. He wants to sell that board along with a P3-800, 52X CD, 128MB PC133 for like $90, and i can probably even get that down to $75. Gonna add some spare parts i have laying around to make that a full machine, and make a bundle off selling it on eBay.

It was probably a slot 1 board, possibly a socket 370. My P3 700 has worked well on my Asus P3V4X (which supports PC 133) for almost 3 years. The model number of my board is right next to the processor slot. I know that the VIA chipsets were the best 3rd party chips of the time. That's all I can do for you. Good luck.

It could be a slot board or socket one.

Now, if the board has integrated display...i.e. a display attachment on the back, it is probably an 810 or 815.

If not and it has an AGP slot, it may be the 440 BX board.

If it has both, why bother...go ahead and buy.
