alright, i just got a credit card.. and i made my first purchase with it on june 23rd

i logged in on the website to see account summary on the credit card and it says statement closed on june 22nd (this means i can wait a whole month until they bill me? i missed the date by one day right?)

i want to make my payments online... i can just pay it right now instead of waiting?

just wondering.... this is a stupid question, but it doesnt hurt to ask. i'm just wondering lol....

I would wait until it says to pay this amount before this date. If you do not see that and you pay now it won't affect your minimum balance hence you will have to pay the min balance again at a later date.

Yes you can pay now assuming their website allows you to (some will not, unless your bill has been cut).

Or wait until July 22nd when your next statement prints then pay on July 23rd.

no but why pay now if you can hold on to your money till the billing cycle closes?

Don't ever ever ever take financial advice from Nocturnal. In fact, do the exact opposite of what he says: pay the bill now. It won't hurt you, and you'll eventually have to pay the money anyway.

Very good attitude to have. Doing it that way will potentially save you tons of trouble. That's the way I do things with my card too. Always worked well for me. IMO the 5 cents you make leaving it in the bank isn't worth it compared to the trouble you can get in if you mis manage your money and can't make the payment. Plus I just hate having any debt hanging over my head.

You can pay it now even if they haven't billed you yet.
Any excess of payment over the current balance will be credited toward future balances.
Pay now while you have the money, it won't hurt you :)
