Someone has to ask this

UPDATE: The third question is new. Please select "show me the results" for the first two.

If Bush is re-elected do you think someone is going to flip out in the next 4 years and try to assasinate him?

NOTE: I would not do this no matter what, but some people are very emotionally charged this election season. I understand this might not exactly be PC.

Well, if I recall the myth correctly, every single president elected in a year ending in zero has been the victim of an attempted assassination while being president. Only Reagan survived his. So I wouldn't be surprized if history repeated itself.

Murder is against the law...don't be surprised if you end up in prison bending over to get the soap and get surprised.

There's a book about how to kill bush; more demonstration that the libs are very frustrated about not being in the white house or in control of the house.

The day reagan was shot was an interesting potrayal of the chaos that ensues following the potus being out of commission.

Be reasonable, take your neighbor to vote and forget about assassination.

Gotta qualify my answer to the second question.

I put "over the top" not because I thought the subject matter was inappropriate, but rather because this sort of thing is impossible to predict.

That being said, between Bush and Cheney, I'll take Bush.

Really Gravity? Murder is against the law? What an amazing revelation!

No one is condoning the idea, not even the 'libs'. We're merely discussing the possibility that some one could be crazy and angry enough to attempt it.

Edit: Typos that made me sound retarded.

If history is any indication, it's far more likely Kerry will be assasinated should he win. For some reason our "deranged lone gunmen" clearly prefer Democratic and civil rights leaders.

That you would harbour the thought that someone would want to kill the president of the United States seems to indicate you would rather have Bush Dead than in office. I think you may have a mental problem. No one has managed to kill Kennedy the beast from the east.

If it hasn't happened by now I don't know why whoever would want to do it would do it after the election, because then you leave yourself with President Cheney for four years.

How do you figure that? Republicans are ahead in assassinated presidents

Lincoln
Garfield
McKinley

vs.

Kennedy

Attempts go the same way.

T Roosevelt
Ford
Reagan

vs.

FDR
Truman

When Bush is elected, I will enjoy witnessing the wailing, gnashing of teeth, and agony of the lefties. I do, after all, I enjoy it today.

Do I believe the give peace a chance liberal to be capable of murder? I'll take the fifth.........;)

I fervently hope no harm comes to any of our public figures. I'm old enough to have lived through the trauma of John Kennedy's assasination. I hope I never have to live through another. :(

This is the only reply needed to answer the questions posed by this topic.

When I see someone claim apathy as the reason for not commiting murder and treason I have difficulty taking the rest of the discussion seriously--hence my previous reply. Sorry.

Don't be surprised when you see a dry cleaning van sitting across the street from your house for a week straight.

Nope, not wrong or over the top, haven't most presidents had attempts against their lives?

(although we prob did trigger a few NSA hits with the topic)

As for being a person of interest. This is discussing the possiblity which is fine. Saying you are going to do such a thing is another thing altogether.

No, the actual legend was about dying in office. William Henry Harrison (1840) and Warren G. Harding (1920) died of pneumonia while Franklin D. Roosevelt (1940) died of a stroke.

If you want to make the legend about assassination attempts, FDR also had an assassination attempt made on him but it was before his 1940 victory (1933 IIRC) but Harding did not.

I think I learned this in middle school :)
