With Viagra ads. Haven't used this account in ages, but still pisses me off. I put a fraud alert on my credit just in case.

I don't remember what I had in that account, but just in case someone could scrap up enough info to try to open a credit account in my name, I put an alert on it so they call me if someone tries. Also stops pre-approved credit offer spam for a few months.

I just got this email from the wife of a friend of mine:

Hello

Apologies for having to reach out to you like this, but I made a quick trip to London,United Kingdom and had my bag stolen from me with my passport and credit cards in it. The embassy is willing to help by letting me fly without my passport, I just have to pay for a ticket and settle Hotel bills. Unfortunately for me, I can't have access to funds without my credit card, I've made contact with my bank but they need more time to come up with a new one. I was thinking of asking you to lend me some quick funds that I can give back as soon as I get in. I really need to be on a last minute flight that leaves in a few hours.
I can forward you details on how you can get the funds to me. You can reach me via (anita.schulkers@yahoo.com) as am logged on via a smart device or hotel's desk phone, the number is, 011447014065512

Thanks

Sonia

Funny how she can email from her regular email, but puts a different email address in her message...either the person who sent this is dumb, or people are that stupid to have fallen for this kind of crap in the past (sigh)...

Interesting. Something similar just happened to my Gmail account as well. But Google caught the suspicious activity on the account and locked my account.

Yea, I've seen the same type of scam when my friend lost control of his gmail account. Except the perp actually chatted with me on gchat, asking me to forward money to London. The sad thing is that this scam would probably work on parents/grandparents if they're not too scam savvy.
