This one lady just called me and she pretty much said if I pay $159 she would guarantee that my car gets sold by this weekend at my asking price.

She told me greatcarsandtrucks is a financing company, and they already prequalified up to 8 buyers on my car.

I asked her why I have to pay the $159, why cant the buyer pay for it? they are already getting financing anyways. She answered the $159 is a finders fee.

Also the $159 is guaranteed money back. If I dont sell my car within a certain period the company will refund it to me.

Anyone ever used their service? Are they legit?

ok after a google search its confirmed that they are a scam!

Rule #1. IF you have to ask....

Seriously, if they just called you out of the blue unsolicited it is asking for trouble.
Run away, Quickly.

If they can guarantee that they will sell your car, then they can backup that guarantee by collecting their finders fee out of the sales proceeds. Otherwise, run away.

if your car is decent and you live in a major metro area, you should be able to sell it in 24 hours on craigslist for free. by decent i mean in-demand by CL readers, and by that i, pretty much mean imported. you'll have a lot more trouble moving it that way if its a taurus.

You can do that too, for free. Its called Craigslist or Autotrader if you must pay somone for it. And I can garuntee you will get 3 times the inquiries that you would on some site that you had never heard of before they called you.

Common 419 scam: pay us fee and you'll get money.

EDIT. even google says it is fraud, scam, etc.
I don't think you're that naive.

yeah i wouldn't do it, even if it seems legit.

My roommate and g/f both sold their cars on CL for more then they thought they would get for it in a matter of days

it is not a service, they take your money, and when you ask for refund, they are not there. Sad thing is that many people fall for this, based on number on complains straight off google hits.

Don't listen to the naysayers...that outfit is 100% legit...they HAVE to be...I saw them on the intarweb...;)

Heh-heh...I get 2-4 calls each month from the same kind of scammers wanting to sell/rent my timeshare for me...for a fee...up-front. I tell them all the same thing...if they REALLY want my business, they'll take their piece off the end, when it's rented/sold, NOT in advance. huh...can you imagine...not one is willing to do that...
