I turned off my pagefile because I was having problems with it in BF2, for some reason it was running off my pagefile instead of ram. I have 2GB and I haven't really had this problem before, it started getting very very jumpy. Anyways....

I set to zero, restart the computer, properties show no page file.... run the game, and look at the screenshot.

Also- theres no pagefile.sys file on the harddrives anywhere, so its not like the properties tab is mistaken... what is this graph displaying?

Albeit its running smooth again with no problems but still wtf is going on ???

Its zero on all drives, if you look at the screenshot it says total = zero.

But if it actually does record regular ram usage then that will obviously explain it - I wasn't sure if thats what it was doing though.

Hmm, so PF usage is a misnomer and it actually displays VM usage (combo of physical and pagefile)? Nutty. In any case, I heard rumours on teh internets that it is unpossible for Windows not to page regardless of user settings. That would however beg the question: whither, if no pagefile exists. Anyhoo, I have not experienced any such problem with BF2 which prompted me to try eliminating the pagefile. But what can be done to reduce the degradation from paging, even given sufficient VRAM, RAM and a peppy HDD (or indeed seperate drive), is... you guessed it... setting the same min & max size and ensuring it is not fragalated. If you wanted to be obsessive compulsive about it, I suppose the pagefile could be put on a seperate partition physically located on a platter side seperate from the OS and game.
