Someone explain NASCAR to me.

What's the difference between the Nextel Cup series, the Busch series, the Craftsmen Series?
How does the owner/car maker play into the standings?
Do they get different cars for each race?

Craftsmen Series are trucks. The Busch Series, I believe, are shorter races than the Nextel races.

Whats the differance between double A, triple A and major leauge basball? Its basically the same with nascar, they actually have several differant series which you can progress up through.

Do the same drivers that drive in the Nextel races also drive the Busch series races?

nascar is gay.

does it really have anything to do with the guy driving? couldn't some guy with a bigger/better engine just go in there and kick everyone's ass?

I love circle track racing, but I prefer mine in the dirt..... Check out the World of Outlaws (Sprint Cars) sometime if you ever get the chance. ASSCAR is teh sux.

They can and people in the lower levels can drive in the Nextel races if somebody sticks them in a car and they can quallify.

What I don't understand is why people that don't like Nascar feel so compelled to post about how much they hate it in every thread about it. I never see this crap in baseball threads.

nascar is like football... only americans like it. the rest of the world likes real racing(you know... drivers with driving skill and such)

I wasn't directing it at you, and 141 is not that fast, NNC runs 190. I have also done the driving experiance, loved it, I just wanted to race, but alas they would not let us

I know. 144 was max at vegas. I even had my window net blow out at speed. Yay.

I was in atlanta, 140 was my top, but the car seemed to just hug the turns, no feeling of loose ot tight, I loved it but I would rather get in an unrestricted car

My car certainly was not limited in any way besides my right foot. I had to stay a certain distance from the instructors car in front of me (2-3 car lengths), and if I passed him I would have been tossed. I missed a shift (2-3 IIRC) when accelerating on the back strech from the pit, and my instructor didn't notice. I punched the car though turn 3 & 4 to catch up. I shifted out of 3rd into 4th when the tach was straight up (which was about 7200k, it was rotated in the dash) and got all the way to ~6800 in 4th when I caught up to him on the front straight.

I got b!tched at majorly, because you were supposed to keep it under 5k at all times. (It was their own fault for not having a damn radio, so I could tell him to hold up because I fvcked up and missed a shift. The throw from 3-4 had to be a good 18 inches.) The highest I ever got the tach after that was almost exactly at 5k for the lap, which was 141.29 IIRC.

The car was (as far as I could see) unrestricted, and could probably do mid 170 laps without issue.
