Someone convince me to sell my XBOX 360 and Laptop and go back to Desktop Goodness.

If you cannot constructively think and contribute to my decision please leave your comments outside this thread :)

Thank you.

So I recently picked up an XBOX 360 Prem, Kameo, PD0, and a Wireless controller. Running on a 1080I Samsung Widescreen HDTV CRT. Pretty good looking. Fun console, love all the features like Media Center Extender, downloading demos, etc.

I also sold off my desktop (Opt 144 @ 3.0, 1gb, 6600GT, 250GB) and picked up a very nice E1505 Dell laptop with the 256MB X1400 vid card. Laptop works great, can't believe how well it runs recent games (Quake 4, Titan Quest, wasnt expecting much) though I didn't intend to play many new games on it, just easy mobile lan gaming now and then with WC3, AOE3, D2, etc.

I've been in this state now for about 2 months. My XBOX 360 sits rarely played... Well, because I'm pretty busy and ... its just not that fun. I'm really looking forward to the Wii. Its pretty cool and for the price, its nice. I still find myself playing games on my laptop though... Also missing the ability to spend a couple bucks to upgrade the video card, overclock something, or run the latest graphical apps. ...

So I'm at a crossroads. Do I dump my 360, keep the laptop, move on?

Do I dump the 360, dump the laptop, pick up a nice desktop?

Someone help me weigh gaming on a PC versus 360 and what the future holds in the way of console/platform specific games (really looking forward to Spore & Gears of War [which oppose platforms]) (yes, I like mice better).

Note: I'm not a big LCD fan, I have a 21" CRT waiting to be hooked back up.

I would still have a desktop if I wasn't so worried about noise, mobility, etc. I think the best option may be to downgrade the laptop, sell the 360, put together a decent PC...

EDIT:::
The primary reason I jumped boat on the Desktop was the following:
- I was sick and tired of wiping winblows once every few months because something blew up and I'm anal about losing a few fps to a driver/conflict glitch.
- The noise was killer in the bedroom 24/7, and no it isnt being moved or turned off at night
- I got sick of having to install/wait for loading/configure/set key controls/read key controls/adjust settings/crash/patch/crash/readjust settings/finally play the game
-Couchs are much more comfortable for gaming
I am tempted to switch back to PC gaming and dumping the 360 because:
- I like tuning my desktop (overclocking...weee)
- I like my mouse and keyboard... a lot more then I thought
- I am far from impressed by the games out (so far) for the 360
- The online (gaming) experience with the 360 is not nearly, remotely, as good as I was expecting
- It has a boot sequence...and I cannot upgrade drivers anymore ;)

So anyways theres also something of note
Sitting in my possesion still is my HTPC. I am also not impressed with it... Its fun to record TV... Buts its not the greatest thing ever.... It houses an Opteron 144 (that ran at 3.0), 1GB, 250GB, and a 6600GT. Would only need a bump to a 7600GT or so to be great with newer games. I also have a 550W PSU boxed up.

So theres my predicament; updated.

First off, PC gaming is on the decline for many reasons. There are so many different PC configurations that games are adjusted and readjusted. Compare that to console gaming where everything is unified, games are made specifically for the 360, ensuring better gaming.

Secondly, how do you want for that 360 of yours? :)

If you're a gamer, get a nice desktop. You already got the good CRT eye candy. It's about time someone showed up on here that wasn't so fond of LCD's like me and are pro CRT :)

I don't think PC is on the decline as much as people think.
Consoles are for for multiple people playing racing games and sports games with an occasional FPS or RPG here or there.
PC games are all about FPS mainly and sports and racing games last.
You just dont have the control on consoles for FPS's like you do on PC's.
One thing i'd like yo see is a PC vs. xbox online fragfest with ANY FPS.
What an OWNING that would be by the PC gamers.
Consoles need to catch up in that area for sure, but until then, PC gaming is where its at for FPS's. :)

I grew up console gaming and it's still where my heart lies, but I will agree with you in that PC gaming is the place to be...especially with the insane rise in platforms (PS3, est. $700?!) I'm currently trying to bulk up my PC to enhance my PC gaming experience. Unless Syndicate is willing to sell his 360 for a nice price, I think I may stop with console buying and sit on my XBOX.

I favor the PC because it can do anything a console can do plus much more.
