Fire the poor bastard who did the search but where is the accountability for the White House advance team which should always be providing the images they want used? This administration always fucks up the details.

The best of the worst gravitate his way. This happened because of pure laziness on the part of the event organizers and the really, really White House. The White House advance team, if it existed/was competent, would integrate the images and such into media that they control and present. This would allow for proper vetting.

Nope, as usual conservatives do a sloppy job because nobody cares to do otherwise. As long as they are getting $$$, everything is working just fine.

Seems like this was a legit mistake? Someone else had created this fake seal and it showed up in an internet search, and whoever the graphic designer was, they didn't realize it was a fake seal.

I don't entirely agree with the use of Soviet iconography! Putin's Russia is not communist. The double-headed Eagle, however, is a clever touch. Its interesting how keen on eagles nation states seem to be.
(Goes to look up the meaning of the "two headed" thing...at first thought it doesn't seem like being conjoined twins would be a survival trait for a bird of prey)
And one would have thought that the golf-clubs would have caused someone to notice something wasn't right...that part isn't exactly subtle.


edit - wow, it goes back a very long way and crops up all over the place, including Wimbledon football club...still not clear why ruling elites want to be symbolized by a deleterious mutation though.

But the trolls came, too. “The worst has been Facebook,” he said, which he hadn’t checked “in like a year.” “Holy crap at the amount of vile, hateful Facebook messages," he said. But, Leazott said, it’s him who gets the last laugh. A photo of Trump in front of his seal is now his computer background, and the person who used it at the event is “either wildly incompetent or the best troll ever — either way, I love them.”

BBC is reporting that someone from Turning Point USA, the host of the conference, was the one fired.

A representative for the group, Turning Point USA, told the Washington Post that the fake seal was a mistake, the result of a rushed online search.
But while the group called the slip-up "unacceptable", they maintained there was no "malicious intent".
