Some one broke my side mirrors off my car once while it was parked by a friends house. I filed a police report and the fvcking cops didn't even bother to go out there and look around. I have the police report it basically says 'took complaint, did jack sh|t'. You have to file a report to make an insurance claim though, if you have comprehensive coverage it should cover vandalism.

If you have a high deductable, like $500 (I think because of the defroster part in rear windows they cost like $4-500, whereas a windshield costs around 2-300) I wouldn't even bother reporting it to the insurance company. You'll get no benefit and your premiums will go up. Try to find one in a junkyard.

That doesnt look like an SUV to me. Anyways, Sometimes insurance companies waive glass damage deductibles so its worth looking into.

Consider yourself lucky. At least they didn't get the smashed McDonald's bag and legal pad. :D

Seriously though, rear windows are expensive, as was said, because of those rear defroster lines. Try looking in yellow pages for salvage yards in your area and call around, you may be able to pick one up cheaper there. Also check your insurance policy for glass/vandalism coverage, some policies have special provisions for glass that don't fall under your normal deductible. Good luck!

most policies have 0 deductible on glass...at least here in MI

last time I had a window replaced I made $50 (0 deductible +$50 from glass place for using them.)

if all else fails just call around to different places. The bad thing is that you have rear defrost which will bump up the price if you are paying out of pocket

I said that before he posted pics. The reason for me saying that was because in my area the only vehicle vandalism is against SUVs. I can only assume it's some tree hugging hippies or kids who think it's cool to destroy stuff like tree hugging hippies.

What ever your deductable for glass is.
Out of pocket it wouldn't be more than $300.
