Someone at work bought a new MBA

Alright, I'm not really too fluent with Macs, the only Apple product I own is an Ipod Video but I do know lots about Windows and Linux, but onto the topic. Basically we have a person at work who bought a new MacBook Air, which btw I think looks pretty neat. But they need to have it on our Windows 2003 server domain and I'm not sure everything that needs to be enabled to do so. Is there any good websites for putting macs on a windows domain?

With Finder active (click the happy Mac face in the dock to make it active), click the Go menu at the top and choose Utilities.

Find and start Directory Utility.

Click the Plus sign (+).

Choose Active Directory in they type and fill in the appropriate information and hit ok.

Click the Apple icon and then click System Preferences. Choose Accounts. Under automatic login make sure it is disabled.

Log out and then you can log in with domain credentials.

Yeah I mean I have it joined to the domain right now but I'm guessing you can't use any of the real advantages of AD on a Mac. Group policy won't push obviously because the OS is totally different, getting to group shared folders is really a pain, shared printers I guess I need to install the mac drivers for them now. The person that uses it really doesn't have that big of a understanding of computers but a simple point and click on a shortcut to the desktop in windows for group folders that's why I'm thinking this really isn't something they should be doing.

Correct, in order to take advantage of AD features, you really need a Mac Server. It acts as kind of an intermediate between a Windows DC and a OS X computer.

If you have only the one Mac, it's far easier (and cheaper!) to just do it by hand. The only thing you'll really be able to use a domain for is authentication.
