East region is a location where the 2nd weekend games are played.

Opening weekend games are played in 8 venues across the country.
 
They're divided by region for the overall bracket. The first round games will be split up among venues to keep as many teams as close to home as possible so that fans will buy tickets. There's a lot more interest in a 3/14 game between Miami of Ohio and Oregon if it's held in Spokane Washington than there would be if it was held in New Orleans. That way the Oregon fans will buy up all the tickets and assure a sellout. In a truly neutral site nobody would give a damn.
