Somebody tell me why I need ReplayTV

You can easily transfer shows you've recorded to your computer.

Also, recording TV shows without needing to switch out a tape is very nice.
 
So you can be a slave to the TV gods.


It's sort of like church, you could go very Sunday or you could pray on your own schedule.
 
I have a question about replay TV. How does it change to the channel that's needed? Do you have to set your cable box to change at that time?

I still don't understand TV, why pay so much money to watch commercials that want you to spend more money on something else you don't need?

IR Blaster. You set the brand and position a little IR light on your cable box. So, essetially, it's like a remote that your replay changes the channels with.

Well you can skip the commercials with replayTV (earlier models).
I really hate the "TV is just a form of advertisment" crap. I almsot never WATCH commercials, leave the room etc when they are on.
 
You don't need it. If you just get off of your computer and the couch and get out and enjoy what the world has to offer you would realize this. Save your money.

well, if you're like me, and go to school, you often don't have time to watch tv during the week or even during hte quarter. so what i do, is juts set it to record my favorite shows, then watch it when i have time. it's also good to eliminate all those times you hear of a tv show and think you want to watch it, but then forget to.
 
our favorite reason for having replaytv(or any dvr) is the organization of all of our taped shows. i know you can accomplish the same thing by being dilligent with vcr tape management, but this is just so much easier.

another reason is searching of upcoming shows. my wife heard the chappelle show was good so she searched for and instructed replaytv to tape all the upcoming ones. then she went back and perused all of them later on(after they had been taped).

commercial advance is cool too. when it doesn't work there's always the 30 second jump forward.
