Somebody teach me how to use memtest86 (or w/e the best one is)?

1) download memtest86+ floppy or iso
2) if you hve the floppy version extract the file and run the setup > if you have the .iso use your cd burning app to burn the .iso to a cd as an image
3) reboot pc to floppy or cd making sure the boot sequence is set to floppy, cdrom, hdd or equivalent

If you see red errors that is bad. If you can complete 5 passes with no red errors you are good to go. However passing memtest doesn't mean your rig is stable, and red errors don;t always point to defective memory. :p

Are you saying that only cdrw's will work, or are you saying that in addition to cdr's that cdrw's will also work? :p FWIW I've been burning memtest86+ to CD-R's for over 4 years and have never encountered a problem.

Odd, I could never get it to work on CD-R's....

CD-Rs and CD-RWs should behave exactly the same as far as the reading drive is concerned, right? Oh well, I used a floppy (those things take MINUTES to format.)
