Somebody link me to a HSF shootout (recent)

Just get the Alpha 8045, that is the best one for the money that cools great and it uses 80mm fans which make much less noise the heatsinks that depend on a high speed 60mm fan. Just go to svcompucycle.com they have this heatsink on sale for 29.95 and they will give you a deal on a fan if you get it with the heatsink. I have the YS Tech 48.5 CFM fan on mine and it runs very cool and doesn't make that much noise. Oh I have a 1700+ overclocked to a 1800+ and running 35C on a Epox motherboard with this setup.

Thanks, Cosmo3. I didn't know it used an 80mm fan. I know it makes a big diff in the amount of noise. The fan on my FOP32 is like a darn blender. Quieter is better.🙂 Checking now.

The Alpha bolts to the mobo. I don't want that. Too easy to crack the mobo and if I ever want to take the HS off I have to remove the entire mobo. No thanks, I don't care HOW good it is. 😉

Can someone please link me to a HSF review article? THanks.

You do not have to take the MB out to get the heatsink off. It is held on with 4 spring loaded screws. You do have to take it out to install it THE FIRST TIME to get the screw studs bolted in but that is it. It is much nicer than the heatsinks that mount to the soket, no busted socket lugs no rocking the heatsink back and forth on the cpu to get the clips on and it is a much more secure install.
