I have

Athlon 1700+@1660Mhz
a7n8x-deluxe -rev2 mobo
asus 48/16/48 CDRW
Samsung sp0802N(7200 RPM, ATA133)
Antec sonata 380 watt

I have installed HDD as primary master and CDRW as secondary master. There is no CDROM drive.

My problem is that cdrw is rtunning very slow.It used to be fast in another system.I tried to change its mode in the properties of secondary IDE channel from PIO to DMA but even though the choice registers, the mode remains PIO.

What may be the reason? Can you tell me Doc?

Did you say yes to the SW IDE drivers during the nVidia unified drivers install? What OS do you use? Also, have you flashed the drive to the latest firmware?

I had the same problem, uninstall the the secondary ide controller ( or primary depending on where the cdrw is) and after reboot, winxp detects a new ide channel and tells me to reboot again...

After that the cdrw drive is recognised as DMA...

Try it...

hi DAP
I installed the drivers from the CD.It never asked me yes or no. I am using win XP prof.SP1.
I will try EENs method when I get home.
