I put a lean cusine in the freezer of our fridg eat work yesterday. I decided to eat Chipotle for lunch instead. This morning, while I was in the kitchen, I opened the fridge to glance at my lean cusine from yesterday, and it's missing.

wtf...could it be an honest mistake or did someone knowingly eat my meal?

It happens.

At least you know a female took it, cause no self respecting guy would ever eat that! :p

I had a co-worker do that. I had a couple of dozen in the freezer at work, had them marked as mine. They took a few, then moved the remaining ones around to try and hide the fact that some were gone. As if the fact that they went from neat stacks to a jumbled heap weren't indicative that something had happened, they were also numbered. :p

I'm sure they knowingly ate it. People are selfish asshats and the workplace just amplifies that fact.

Seems at every job I've been to I always see posted signs "Please do not take what is not yours". I never get the fact how it is that some people actually steal someone else's food at work in a professional work environment. What is up with that?

Then to make matters worse, you cannot even poison your own food to catch the perps, or you'll get sued!

My boss and I drink a ton of milk here at work. He buys, I buy.....so on and so on. Lately, someone else was drinking our milk.

We decided to keep "our milk" in the refrigerator in our area and take a "different" milk with lots of added soap to the other.

Within 30 minutes we had ours caught.

Yea we have one of those thiefs too at my job. We all know who does it, just no one has caught her in the act yet. And until we do...management wont do anything but say label your food...which doesnt help cuz the thief doesn't care.

At my previous job, I kept little flavored coffee creamers in my cube. I would buy them myself and keep on my shelf. I never thought about locking them up because I didnt think anyone would go and take someone elses things without permission. The thought of it seemed unheard of to me. I stroll into work one morning; I knew I had a few more creamer containers left in my cube to get me through the day. I walk into my cube and they're gone. I peek around at my coworker and he has the open containers on his desk.

When I asked him about it, he just said "oh, yea, I hope you didn't mind" with this friendly smile like I wouldn't mind.

I can't help it if I like my food with a Tablespoon of Dave's insanity in it. Sorry about that.

EDIT: you'll probably catch the guy at the water cooler.

I've kept things in the fridge at a work place as well, sandwich supplies were something I usually brought in for myself. I didn't care if people made a sandwich every now and then, it's not a big deal at all, but it would have been kind to ask me first, that's all I ask.

Just for the record, the people I worked with didn't care that I kept sandwich supplies there, it made it easier in the mornings since I wouldn't have to make lunch.

In that situation, it's a little confusing on what to do.

1. Tell them it's ok
2. Tell them it isn't an issue, but to ask in the future

If you do the first, it encourages their behavior. In the second situation, they're going to talk crap about you later because these are the kinds of things they waste their time on. Part of the issue is that you said it was the morning, maybe it's best to tell them the issue later in the day?

I guess #2 would be the best choice, but it's irritating that people would take things to begin with.

Probably an honest mistake by someone who usually brings one in as well.

Also, you had Chipotle, they had Lean Cuisine. That means you get Chipotle again today. I'm pretty sure that's a net win.

Hell, I'm losing weight eating a lot of Chipotle. A bowl with no dairy and little/no rice is in the 500 calorie range (about 800 with rice).

anything in the fridge when i worked at a call center was fair game to the asshats that worked there. i don't think i ever put anything in there after i had 4 things stolen out of it in one afternoon.

oddly enough someone left a whole turkey in there for months.

You can probably figure out who stole it by seeing who's still hungry...

(Lean Cuisine man? It's like eating air.)
