here's the whole thread over @ nv

update:

ok...tried to do some benchies but running into weird issues. Could be software related. I cannot bench 3dmark05 when running 3d settings....everything is fine but the minute i begin 3dmark05 (and i mean by double clicking on the icon) the screen gets all corrupted. I can however play WoW perfectly with no corruption and demo fear with no corruption or artifacts.

I did run 3dmark05 with just using the 2d performance and it ran fine (Score 9100). I have a 3800+ amd Dual Core overclocked to a 4200. So im sure i could have alot better score if i had a 4800+ going.

I played Fear with max settings at 1600x1200 (i have a dell 2405) and it never ran so smooth its amazing.

And ideas how to run 3dmark05 at 3d settings? And remember...its right when i click on the icon to load the program where everything goes bad. Im gonna run Aquamarks and see if i get the same issue.

Also....couldnt try the other beta drivers cuz it didnt recocognize my card. That normal?

you may not be able to get to nv because they're server is getting HAMMERED
they were sayin in 30 min there were about 2700 views..8hr thread has over 10k views

seems like their using the quadro heatsink

shoulda used it with the stock gtx... rather have a dual slot heatsink that cools than a single slot that runs rediculously hot

That's also a very expensive cooler. There's no way they could have put them on the regular GTX and still hit the pricepoints they have been. That's why I think these 512MB cards are going to remain limited, premium-priced cards.

Yep that cooler must cost a whole $10-$20 to make!

This will surely be an exclusive card!

Pardon me. I meant to say that's one of the reasons. Scoff all you want but that cooler adds a lot to the cost of the card.

Seems like that card needs new drivers so it can function properly with 3DMark05. The owner says he can't right now.

But ... why did they decide to include WHQL 81.85 on the installation CD, if they know it needs a newer, specific version ?

Hmmm...

lol, if this happened with an ATI card rollo would be rightously horrified, and declare that ATI shouldn't have released until they were ready, and that this was disgusting and totally unacceptable...:D

*crickets*

EDIT: i don't know whether it is the drivers, or some other problem, but rollo wouldn't wait to find that out if it was ATI, he'd just post away unconcerned *cough*sacrifice*cough*256mb crossfire limitation*cough* ;)

Well, I do believe that including a CD with a "useless" driver in it is ... well, useless, not to say something else. I wouldn't want to offend ... hum, how can I say ... oh yeah, nVidia supporters.

Not that I'm 100% right. Maybe the owner done something wrong, or didn't un-installed / re-installed (the usual process) the driver before installing the new card on the Mobo, who knows.

But if it is indeed a "need" for another driver version only to make it function in specific programs (since the owner said he can play games alright), then ... that's ... quite un-expected, to say the least.

The card hasnt even been announced yet. How do we know that will be the final shipping driver? Evryone knows that some drivers work better than others.

The stock GTX runs rediculously hot? Doesn't it run cooler than the X1800XTs which have dual slot coolers?

What brand do you have? I think there would have to be something wrong there, as plenty of cards hit 80s under load and have no problem and thats usually overlcocked, not at stock.

it's for sale tho, and it's hardly likely to be a sale unauthorised by nvidia unless XFX want to get in a lot of trouble...

Whats the problem again? The poster said it has worked fine in 2 games, probably works in many more, but we don't know. If you people only buy video cards to benchmark them, then kindly send that money my way, kthx.

since its not yet official release i dont think the current 81.85 drivers are the release drives for 512mb 7800gtx when it comes out.

anyway mwave didnt even have a picture or description of card, are u sure they really can sell it or are they stockpilling for official release sometime in 1-2 weeks and just taking preorders?

the 1.73ghz memory is very nice. I think nvidia will catch up to x1800xt AA benchmarks cause 8xaa on high res is very memory intensive.

hehe, i was just messing about so don't mind me ;) Probably worth noting that many people 'do' care about their 3dmark score tho...otherwise we wouldn't see it on so many peoples sigs would we? It gives a very handy idea of how a card will perform usually into the bargain ;)

yeah, my post wasn't directed at you, and you were spot on with your post above about Rollo's sometimes unneeded commentary. Anyone that can poke fun at the irony of the Rollo for mod crew is cool in my book.

Also, aren't there like 30-40 recent FW drivers that can be used? I mean it seems like they come out with new ones every week...

i like massive coolers as well, but to be fair the GT and GTX (256mb versions) arent exactly hot plate material....mine run pretty damn cool

3DMOCK FTW!!!! heh if it does run who cares? long as it beasts games which going by what he said, it obviously does

bit of insight for you guys.....my 7800GT's and my A64 @ 2.5Ghz only score 10700 in 05. so he's scoring 9100 when not running the proper 3D settings!

I knew someone would buy one for $700+ : ) i win my bet :! well i haven't seen anyscreenshot of benchmarking.. everything i see people rave about getting the product before hand release date but they never show the screenshot of 3D2005 marks :!

Its just some random number that makes you go "wwwooo"
