Some x800 vanilla benchmarks

I just received my new x800 vanilla card mentioned in this thread.

Card in question

The card is about $180, cheaper on sale, and is IMO a superior PCIE alternative to anything in its price range.

System rig:
Athlon64 skt 939 @ 2700 mhz
1 GB Valueselect Corsair RAM
DFI Lanparty Nforce 4 motherboard
ATI Radeon x800 graphics card @ stock speeds.

Settings:
5.6 catalyst drivers, all settings on default
AGP aperture at 256 mb

Some overclocking info:

These chips have phenominal 2.0 ns ram (rated at 500 mhz). The default clocks are 390 core and 350 ram, so there is huge overclocking headroom!

I was able to overclock it successfully to 465 core and 515 ram on the default cooling. Incredible overclock from this card, this is easily almost up to x800/x850 pro levels of performance.

Benchmarks:

3dmark 2003 default score: 9563

3dmark 2005 default score: 4226

3dmark 2005 (465/515) default score: 4558

Halflife 2 VST 12x10 4x/16x: 68 fps
Halflife 2 VST 16x12 4x/16x: 53 fps

UT2k4 Torlan map (using FRAPS) 16x12 4x/16x: 61 fps

Doom 3 timedemo 12x10 high quality: 49 fps
Doom 3 timedemo 16x12 high quality: 35 fps

Farcry demo level (using FRAPS) 12x10 16x: 64 fps
Farcry demo level (using FRAPS) 16x12 16x: 40 fps

Note these are just me running through the level, may not be 100% accurate. 16x12 is unplayable on this card for Farcry.

More benches to come.

Did you mean a different resolution when you said "16x12 is unplayable on this card" ? You benched fairly decent numbers in most games at 16x12.

😛

Nice little card.

Athlon 64 939 at 2.7Gz with a X800 128mb, 1GbMem gets a better 3Dmark2005 score then ... my Athlon 64 754 at 2.2Ghz with Geforce6800Ultra 256mb, 1GbMem

Just goes to show how a faster CPU can Makeup for a weeker Videocard.

In 2 years time i'll be getting a AthlonX2 board and CPU ... not sure what i'm going to do with my AGP card.... may still be able to get Nforce3board then .. maybe.

😕

With a 6800 U you should be getting 5k+.

Nice card. It wasnt really designed to storm through 16x12 frames faster than <insert lame analogy here>, but it will probably beat any card for <$200, and handle any game at 12x10 without a hickup.

But can't you find XLs for about that price? ($180ish). At $150 its an excellent deal, easily beats a 6600gt in everything exept maybe D3...

lol. I just got pwned by my use of pronouns. I've seen some hot deals where XLs were like 179. I was talking about the X800vanillia being a good deal at $150...

There was only one and it was a mistake on ATI's website that lasted about 10 minutes. Usually $250+

BTW, has anyone seen a hack available for these to see if the other pipes can be unlocked? Like a bios flash to an 800XL, but with only 128mb?
