Some Watercooling Questions again

So with Conroe coming out, I am planning my next rig, every time I have a build I always consider watercooling More for the noise factor. Everytime I back off due to the whole water vs electricy thing. Anyone seem or used this Fluid XP+?, Is it safe?

YES its safe. Its not intended for you to let it leak consistantly while playing tho. You should always shut your system down if you notice funny looking stains. The main point of non conductive liquids is when your leak testing. Since your machine is already off, and you leak while leak testing, its safe to wipe off, and incase you didnt get all of it off, its still safe.

Fluid XP is honestly too expensive for my taste even. Id go with promochill. Its almost half as expensive, and it comes in clear version as well incase you want to add a dye to custom the water color.

Promochill ICE

I tend to use that and 1 bottle is enough for a simple loop unless you have a big big res. If thats the case you can always top off with a little DI water.

Just like to let you know also, if you dont plan to overclock, and your straight going for sound, AIR is a better alternative. The only quieter alternative would be going passive water, but that would also not allow you to overclock greatly.

I've been watercooling for close to 3 years now and I haev always used distilled water and I have not had any problems at all.

I've used it, but frankly I didn't get a chance to test whether it's non-conductive. IMO, you should labor from the idea that you won't get any leaks. Just look at each connection as a project in and of itself and you'll be golden. In the 5-years I've water-cooled I've had exactly one leak, and it was my fault for being sloppy.

do you still recommend Hydrix over this product Hardwarrior..sounds pretty good....

expensive @$20 for a quart

Yup, I'm 5-weeks past a scheduled flush and everthing is still clean. Hydrx is still the easy choice, IMO. I was intending on trying something new, but with the results I've had I don't see the point. How are things by you, Neal?

I am doing well..
I am waiting on a Delrin Radiical top to mod my DDC Ultra pump(600L/h and max head of 4.7m..unmodded)...really no reason to have bought it except Iwanted to try this small powerful pump

http://www.radiical.com.au/products/RadiicalPumpTop.asp

I have no idea how much specs will improve on 18w version w/modded top but on the 10w version of the pump they got 20% increased flow but not sure how it affect the head pressure

BTW shipping from Austalia was only $9!!!

Wow, do you have a buddy who works for the Aussie postal service??? 🙂 I've been looking at the DDC refits too. After a rough start the DDC is turning out to be a VERY popular pump with a fair amount of punch stuffed into a compact package. I'm going to swap in two of them as soon as I pay off the GPS the wife just let me buy. 😉

FWIW..2 of DDC Ultra in series are monsters with supposedly 30ft max head...unfortuantely I can not confirm the data reported

Radiical has great CS...they use a flat rate shipping based on wgt

I had a chance to get 2 DDC ultra for $75/each but I could not justify $150.00 plus $90 for 2 Radiical tops....

the Radiical top is supposedly a better performer over the alphacool top...although you can mod the original pump top by cutting out the top inlet and making it 1/2in inlet

Several people at XS modded the alphacool top becasue the inlet while it use a 1/2in barb the inlet threads narrowing some and by enlarging performance is better

here is an example:
http://www.radiical.com.au/products/RadiicalPumpTop.asp

OP even admits his max and flow rate seem very high...but it shows his mod real well the pics

Look at all the options! When people reported start-up issues with the DDC I assumed that the design would die. This is a great time for water-cooling, isn't it?

The DDC pumpshad issues supposedly the newer DDC pro(10w) and ultra (18w) have no startup issues..very small form factor

Looking at the specs..DDC ultra has 4.7m head, 600l/h flow..unmodded
the MCP655 has 3.1m head pressure, but 1200l/h flow rate

I DDC ultra supposedly is quieter and performs very well as compared to mcp655
