Some War Game

I'm not really here to talk about games, but to ask what the name of one is.
It was a demo on my uncle's desktop a few years ago that I really enjoyed. You moved your vehicles around to fight other vehicles in a war setting. Some vehicles, such as planes, had speed and others had range, like a giant cannon. It was an overhead view of the land and you maneuvered the vehicles by clicking or highlighting over them and clicking where you wanted them to go.
I hope this is the right place to post this and that somebody has some clue as to what game I'm talking about. ^_^

Look up every RTS game ever made, and make a list. Eliminate all of the games that were released in the last year or two. Remove all entries containing games with fantasy settings. Spend a significant portion of your life going through all the remaining games one by one.

You are much better off moving on. Find a new game, forget about the old one.

Need more details.

Compairing it to something like Company of Heroes would help (what is and is not like). The biggest things would be is it turn based and what scale are the maps?

If talking about actual real life units, either the panzer general series or combat missions are two guesses given the little to go by.

I looked up some of those games and the game I remember was similar to Commandos and Panzer General.
While the graphics in the game I remember weren't great, they still didn't use squares for the machinery to move on and attack.
I'm going to spend a little more time searching and maybe somebody here will know what the heck I'm talking about.
Thanks anyways.

Edit:
I found a picture here that looks very similar to the game I use to play. This game is Close Combat and this is the only picture out of 13 that actually looks like the game I use to play.

I might know what you are talking about, but I do not remember the game myself. But it was in the 2000 or 2001 ..

I'm with matas saying it was about 2000 or 2001.
It looks a little like Command and Conquer, but more like Sudden Strike, but it's still not either of those. I might go for Sudden Strike if I can't find it.

Anything else memorable about the game? Any of the units say things or have memorable sound effects when you selected them?

If you want to dig for it bad enough you can use the game browser on mobygames.com, filter it by year, windows, strategy, realtime and look through the list.
