Some Vista x64 FEAR bench #s.

Using 1680x1050 4xAA and 16xHQAF All options maxed.
For Vista FEAR, I am using the creative alchemy beta sound drivers (enable Hardware Sound)
EATM+ATMAlphasharpenmode 1 are enabled in both OSs
Using Cat 7.1 for both


XP:
Min:41
Average:99
Max:272
0%<25 fps
0% 25-40 fps
100%>40 fps

BTW, did you get the basic edition or that ultimate one?

I almost bought a copy of Vista at Best Buy the other day, but didnt know the difference between the two.

I'm using Ultimate on Trial mode. 30 days is more than enough time for an OS install for me...I format about every 3 weeks

Under Vista, you should be able to get the MAX fps back up to where WinXP is by running the fear.exe in "Windows XP compatibility" mode under properties. Of course, it won't help your minimum fps, but it'll make your benchmark look more comparable.

:shocked: That's a bit ridiculous... what the hell do you do to your computer that makes a clean install the best option after just three weeks? I know it can't be porn, because I have a substantial porn collection myself and I don't reformat every 3 weeks... not even every 3 months. Hell... this June will be 3 years on the Windows XP install I'm using while typing this...

I'm gonna install Vista over the weekend so I guess I'll see for myself

I wonder if the anandtech Vista performance review thing is accurate?
Are some of the Directx games really 1.05x faster in Vista?

Well, I prefer games that have built in benches I'm kinda lazy...

I know that OpenGL is a problem with Vista @ the moment.
Does Far Cry have a built in bench?

I have to say that Rainblow 6 Vegas performance is indistinguishable...which is a bad thing in this case
