Windows 95, 98, and ME have a very different (and inferior) kernel from Windows NT/2000/XP. Because of the differences that exist between the two kernels, device drivers for one set can't be used on the other; the same goes for video codecs. So, in short, the answer to your question is Yes.

What codec is it you are exactly looking for? And do you need it?

Man, I hear ya there..I wish I had jumped ship when Win2K came out instead of sticking it out with 98. Allthough I seem to have less probs with Win98 than others and can say it actually treated me good, XP is just so much better. I used to be nervous shipping a system out my door with Win98/ME knowing that I was going to be getting support calls :disgust: Not so much anymore with XP :)
