Some tweeking and final temp oc results

Hello all,

I have finally got my water cooled system up and running and have started the overclocking process my results so far are the following:

Q6600 @ 3.6ghz Temps: 37, 36, 35, 32 Vcore 1.48v Prime stable *** Loaded temp max 52 - 53c

Q6600 @ 3.7ghz Temps: 44, 43, 40, 40 Vcore 1.56v Prime stable *** Loaded temp max 63 - 65c

Q6600 @ 3.8ghz Temps: 48, 47, 45, 46 Vcore 1.60v Prime stable *** Loaded temp max 70-73c

The voltage to get my chip to 3.8ghz is too scary for me as well as the max loaded temp during prime testing. I have decided to stay @ 3.7ghz with my board Vdrop it has a vcore of 1.53v still over the max allowed but I can live with it.

It is important to note that I live in very hot south Florida and my room ambient temps are on the high side I will at some point measure them. I guess the point of all this is this overclock with these temps are not possible with an air solution .

I had a lapped true with high cfm fans in a push pull configuration and @ 3.6ghz my max loaded temp was 66-68c. As a help to others to get the stable higher over clock I had to add a small fan on top of my heat sink that controls the power regulation circuit.

With out the small fan during prime the computer would just shut off. Special thanks goes out to aigomorla, woodbutcher, gilbot for all their advice and help. I'm a sold water believer and now am interested on how to make things colder using this method.

To those out there on the fence like I was jump off the water is GREAT!

heh.. lower ambients you get better temps. 😛

so next thing you should wait for is a way to get lower ambients.

Ok Evel, let us know when you plan to try the canyon again!
oops! my bad, spelling error.

Hey man, nice work:thumbsup:

Thanks guys yeah unless I move the office to the back of the house the ambients are going to stay high 🙁 On a positive note I think I have found the ideal case for water cooling modding goodness will post results soon

You ever consider evaporative cooling? Should yield better temps for you though maintenance can be a pain.
