I do the marketing graphics for my company, and when looking around stock image sites like Fotolia or Shutterstock, I've noticed some trends:
- the cheaper the photo, the uglier the models
- Searching for "Woman talking to man" gives lots of images of woman yelling at a miserable looking man
- Searching for "Man talking to a woman" gives lots of images of a man pleading or looking like he's trying to explain something to an angry woman
- Barefoot guys trying to look comfortable while laying in a park look goofy, but a woman doing that looks fine
- Everyone in stock photos looking at a computer screen have to point at it and give an open mouth smile
- Apparently resting the side of your head on your knee is a comfortable thing for women to do.
- A lot of people like to sit around on the front steps of apartment building in large cities while wearing bright clothes. I would think those steps would be filthy.
- Why is there always so much ice in people's drinks? Their glasses are like 90% ice, 10% beverage. That's not a good value at that open-air cafe.
Been doing this too long... :\
