Question Some taskbar icons turning blank upon startup

I recently downloaded some custom icons from this site: https://icon-icons.com/

I wanted to change the icons for 'task manager', 'show desktop', and 'character map'. I only downloaded the .ico files, not the png files. I went through the process of changing them, pinned the apps to my taskbar, and they worked fine.

However, when I start up my PC, these particular icons turn blank. They still open and work, but they show as blank pages on the taskbar.



Any idea what's going on?

That is what happens when messing with the OS. Try removing the ap. If that does not work , rebuild Windows.

After Googling the problem, I discovered how to clear the icon cache file in the appdata folder.

This seems to have worked so far. Hoping it will hold for subsequent startups.

Hmm...can't seem to get my character map icon to stay after startup. It keeps turning into a blank page.
