Hey guys - I'm running:
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Newcastle 1600MHz HT Socket 754
mushkin Green 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200)
CHAINTECH SLV3-128 Volari V3 128MB DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card
Windows XP
well I was pretty proud of the system I put together, with the exception of the video card: I'm not a gamer so I went low end, and never again will I go generic.
Anyway, my problem: Partypoker kills my CPU utilization, making everything run slowly when I have a table running. I'd be willing to chalk that up to their software being crappy, except that when I run the same software on my GF's laptop, which is 5 years old with a far inferior set of specs, it runs better. WTF is that? Could it be that my video card is killing me...that is, could somehow all the video processing be shifting onto my main CPU since my vid card sucks, whereas her machine video card is handling it ok?
Sorry if that doesn't make sense. Bottom line: Partypoker drags my new machine down, but my GF's old machine handles it much better. Could anyone shed some light on this problem for me? Thanks!
