Some smoke just popped out of my mouse

I put my logitech mouse back on its charger and it started charging.

I picked it up a few minutes later, and one of the metal pads on teh mouse was really hot, and the plastic around it was cracked and distorted and there was a funny smell.

The mouse still works, but the battery is running out, and the light is flashing. What should I do, I don't want to put it back in the charger.

Do you think cleaning the pads would help? It's really stubborn sometimes about charging and it can take 5 or 6 attempts before it will start charging.

I wouldn't use that mouse anymore, send it back to Logitech for a replacement.
