So last evening while it was late daylight I going over to 7-11(or coming back) some 10 y/o looking kid at first glace, ask me for a lighter!!! As starting to nag him about smoking and why a child his age even needs a lighter in the first place... The kid tried to bullshit me by telling he is actually 15 but short for his age. After getting a closer look of his face and height, I thought said boy looked closer to 8...

For those of you who don't know. Illinois(USA) where I live, recently changed the law require to be at least 21 and older to buy tobacco products, I am most certainly not going buy such things for a child, who certainly shouldn't be smoking anyway in the first place. Oh the penalty for buying these for person(s) under 21 is $500!!!

How's the kid even have money for cigarettes in IL? I bought a pack there when I still smoked a few years back, and it was something outrageous like $8.

I think it's like $10 now in Chicago after taxes. Smuggled cigarettes from Indiana are a big thing here due to the high taxes.

GOing to shows up and down the east coast, and into the midwest, from my homebase of NC....we would bring cartons of cigs with us to sell at those shows. Make bank in the parking lots.... pays for tickets, food and uh, you know, showers and stuff.

$20 case of Camels from J&R at the time was something like $60-$70 in most other states.
