Some sites require that you use Internet Explorer

Some sites require that you use Internet Explorer.

I thought that a few weeks ago I read about some trick to make Firefox work on these sites.

Or do I have it all wrong and that the fix was for Thunderbird?

Anyway, can anyone help me out?

You can spoof the server to make it think that Firefox is Internet Explorer. I do know of an Add-on that you can use that will use the Internet Explorer rendering engine inside Firefox.

Just wanted to say thanx for the IETab tips...i'd always used the ieview extension...this one sounds better yet 🙂

After a lot of searching I found IETab at the following location: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419

It makes your currently selected Firefox Tab (panel) behave as though it is Internet Explorer, hence it can fool sites into believing that they are being accessed by Internet Explorer. It also causes Internet pages to be displayed as though by Internet explorer, hence giving you a chance to confirm that your wonderful HTML pages are displaying properly under IE as well as Firefox.

It causes a Firefox symbol to be displayed on the status bar at the bottom of the Firefox Window. If you move your cursor over it, you will see your options. Most fundamentally you mouse left-click on the symbol to switch the operation of your selected tab(panel) from Firefox to Internet Explorer and a second left-click returns it to Firefox operation..

IEtab is FTW. I use it at work since so many crappy intranet sites require and only work in IE. I can't stand having 10 browser windows open so I have everything in firefox within tabs.
