Some simple questions about liquid cooling, would greatly appreciate some help.

Do they require regular maintenance? As in, re-fuelment of coolants? I'm rather new the whole thing so I honestly don't know.

Also, any opinions on the manufacturer Asetek?

Thansk much.

Actually you should use distilled water and some anti algae additive.
No they dont't need refueling so to speak just a tiopping off once a month or so kinda like checking your cars engine oil once a year or so. :)

All of the hoses lose coolant at a very slow rate so you just need to keep the level up once in a while.

You should not used deionized water as it will pull stuff from the blocks and tubes to become ionized again.

There are fluids avalable but the cheapest is distilled water from the grocery. I use this and 1 oz of antifreeze and run it for years with just 2 drops of "coolant system water leak detector*" to turn the water green under UV light.

*Does three things-
1. Its cheap at the autoparts store.
2. You can detect leaks under UV light-it designed purpose.
3. Its a gool green color.

Good Luck-Thats me.

actually i run my system on straight distilled with periodic flushes every 4-6months. It keeps the coolant fresh, and also reduces the risk of corrosion, and also algae buildup. Also the more additives you have in the water, the longer it will last, but you will take a performance hit of 2-3C depending on volume of additive.

Its also possible for algae to grow in your system with ethylene in the loop. Ive seen it happen when people are running cold cathods 24/7. Dont underestimate the power of algae.

All systems require some work from time to time. Even air cooled systems require you blowing the fins off the hsf once in a while. The same concept goes with a radiator. That thing will get full of dust over period usage and needs a good blowing from time to time.

Astek blows. They used to be a good company until they stopped upgrading there blocks and radiators. If your looking for an external, because they make a lot of externals, your better off contacting NewLS1 and finding out about a waterkeg III. Its about the same price for better performance.
