27 floors? Seems like a hassle to get from one part of the house to another. I can't even image what they'd need all the space for.

That looks very ugly.

With that said, it brings a thought to mind.. where has this spirit gone? So many of the great buildings of history have been rich men showing off their wealth. If I were Bill Gates I'd build the mansion of mansions to put my stamp on history. Look at the Taj Mahal.

Bill Gates is using his money to build lots of tiny houses in africa, i think that'll put his name in history. I dont remember the king's name that built the taj mahal. If anything, it just reflects a ridiculous use of state resources to get some pootang.

Helping poor people does nothing for the history books.. you'd probably have to ask a thousand people on the street before anyone told you who Norman Borlaug was. I don't know the King's name either but everyone knows his creation.

I know resources are better used elsewhere but throughout history somebody wastes them to build something for us to enjoy for all time, I just don't see that happening so much anymore with the billionaires.

That looks like pieces of shits stacked together. Clearly this rich guy's too cheap to hire a good architect to design his "mansion."

You remember Carnegie because he built a bunch of crap and slapped his name on it. Borlaug developed a disease-resistant wheat strain that is credited with saving 1 billion people from starvation.

The great moguls of the 19th century did much more interesting things with their wealth...they built monuments and opened them to the public.

A few examples from the top of my head:
Rockefeller Center
The Chrysler Building
Grand Central Station

I have no respect for people like him
I'm sure Indians would rather get 2 dollars a piece rather than see this piece of crap get made

I really don't understand how people like that can sleep at night. I'm all for wealth, but obscene wealth such as that makes me sick. No one can justify a 2 billion dollar home. What a warped view of the world his children are going to have.

He'd get a lot more happiness if donated his money...

that is not a single 'home,' that is a highrise with multiple living quarters and some shared common space. If it were really built to house a single family unit, why would they need a public style restroom with so many stalls?

I'm sure his Dad would be proud. /rolleyes

Dhirajlal Hirachand Ambani (28 December 1932, - 6 July 2002), (also known as Dhirubhai Gujarati: ??????? ??????) was an Indian rags-to-riches business tycoon who founded Reliance Industries in Mumbai with his cousin. Many people consider Ambani's phenomenal rise to be one of the most astounding rags-to-riches stories ever, more so because it was achieved by someone with barely a high-school education who fought his way to the top in a highly repressive business environment (the License Raj that stifled Indian business until the early 1990s). Ambani took his company (Reliance) public in 1977, and by 2007 the combined fortune of the family (sons Anil & Mukesh) was 100 billion dollars, making the Ambanis one of the richest families in the world.
