..soccer is great but TV executives hate it because there's too few breaks in the action for commerical sales time. That's why they love football because of the constant action breaks thus more commerical time to sell.

Rugby > Soccer

Too bad the average american doesn't understand the rules of rugby. It's a much more enjoyable sport to watch, IMO.

He's not kidding, that's one of the main reasons it isn't very popular.

Plus, only like 3 goals are scored the whole game (I like soccer I'm just saying)

Yeah, most Americans are too ADD to pay attention for very long. It's not enough to come close to a point, or get the expectation of a point only to get disappointed, the numbers have to actually move fast.

Plus you have to know soccer well (as in having played it) to truly understand the strategy and mental exercises that are going on during a game, whereas football is more or less formulas of where to stand/run. Granted there's some improv on the part of the individual players, but aside from the QB, this is more technique then strategy.

<------Played soccer for 15 years and counting.

What planet are you living on? TV executives hate soccer because NOBODY WATCHES IT!! Who cares how many commercials you can squeeze into an hour if you have to give the commercials away? You can't sell advertising time to an audience of zero.

Soccer is boring to play and extremely boring to watch. I'd rank it right above NASCAR and right below golf for "most boring sport to watch."

I remember when the World Cup was here in the U.S., the Manchester hooligans said that they were going to walk through the streets of Brooklyn, Detroit, and Compton to kicks some asses.

The only reason imo that 'hooliganism' hasn't come to the US is that its much more difficult here to frequently travel to opponents venues as it is in Europe. This would be common in our most popular sports if the geographic issues were different.

That's ridiculous. It's easy to travel in the US. The reason we don't have hooliganism is that nobody cares about soccer here. It's really hard to work up a good riot when there are 20 people in the entire stadium.

I am more inclined to believe the Americans just don't care for the low score and stretched out back and forth. You don't know soccer until you have stood on a concrete stadium that is actually bouncing because of the people jumping up and down in sync.

Many of us have experienced that with college football. Why would I want to experience something like that at a boring game when I can experience it at an exciting game?

I don't see the appeal of American Football. I sat through a game and was really bored. I guess it's similar to what you would experience at a soccer game. You think maybe the rest of the planet see something in it that Americans don't?

Actually no, I'm not a ManU fan whatsoever ... I just hate it when generalizations about a sport are made because of fringe group of idiots.

I'm pissed that you're propagating this sort of idiocy.
