Hi,

1- First of all, is the XFX GeForce 6600 GT AGP8X a good card (overall)?

2- What's the best DVD-RW / CD-RW burner that I can buy (I mean the best bang for the buck, cause I don't have an unlimited budget --- less than $80-90 US)?

3- I have a Philips 12X8X32 CD-RW (in my HP Computer) and I bought 50 Memorex CD-R in a spindle. I don't know why but I tried Record Now, Nero, Alcohol and it doesn't burn. It says some time : Error Power something . Even with my TDK CD-R I can't burn. Since yesterday, my burner is not working (I've burned a MP3 CD but it took like half an hour and since, I can't burn anymore) I don't know why. I downloaded Sandra and everything is ok. Seriously I don't know what to do. I'm not too good in hardware (in removing things) so.... And I can't reformat cause I didn't order my new computer and I don't want to lose all my stuff...

So what can I do to solve this problem?

Thanks!

Yes and I'm an ATI Fanboy ;)

PioneerA08 (oem or anything with the NECchipset)

Dirty/off line Lens or it went down...try a new IDE cable or see if you can reflash the firmware

Thanks!

How can I clean the lens? Also, the message that I got from Nero was : Power Calibration Error. Was does it mean?

I saw reviews of the burner, and some says that the NEC ND-3500A is the best(Anandtech) and other says that the Pioneer DVR-108 is the best? Seriously, I don't know what to choose... :S

Do you have some feedbacks?!

yes the 6600GT AGP8x is a good card overall, i would go w/ the liteon 16x dvd burner its only like 75 bucks i think. i have it, its my second lite on dvd burner and i havn't had problems with either of 'em. and for your third question its probably not the media its probably a software conflict or problem. try uninstalling all your cd burning programs then install nero or roxio's software also check to see if your cd burner has firmware update and makesure you have the latest motherboard chipset drivers

For the problem, I did a system restore and it's working... but not with my Memorex. I suspect the Memorex CD-R are just not compatible with my burner. I read about it on the web and I'm not the only one with that problem.

I think that the NEC ND-3500A is the same price as the Lite-On one. Anyways, thank for your help!

I'm hesitating. Does someone has one of these (NEC, Lite-On, Pioneer) and can give me feedback?!

I would go with the NEC 3520A myself (which is what I am getting in a month or so...). It is only $65 on newegg. I would just get whichever is cheaper, as you really won't notice much difference in them.

The 6600gt is the best card in that price range. It handles all the newer games (Doom3, farcry, HL2), but things may get choppy at higher resolutions (> 1024x768) or when using AA/AF. Also, XFX is a decent brand. Some complain that the customer support is crap, but the quality is up there with evga and BFG.
