hi,

maybe someone can help me out.

On my new system i have an OLD toshiba 8x cdrom drive.....i could enable dma in windows for it with my very old pentium166 system.

Now i have dma enabled for my hd (at least this work).....but when i enable dma for this old CD-Rom drive i get lockups as soon as there is an access to the CD-rom. I have both drives (hd and cdrom) each on an ATA66/100 cable connected as master on IDE1 and the the CD-Rom master on IDE2.

Can i maybe enable DMA when i take an old ATA33 cable ?

Modem:

I have that cheapo creative modem from newegg (the $18 modem).....sometimes my sys freezes connecting. I use the drivers on the CD which came with it. The drivers on creative's website seem OLDER than the drivers on CD.

Anyone an idea how to get the modem a bit more stable ?

thanx !

I have had similar issues with the Creative modem blaster in Windows ME on several occasions, on several different systems. Are you running Win ME by chance? What mobo?

soyo dragon plus.....but it seems the problems are getting less...had no lockup recently...even if i now overclock my fsb and tweak memory settings like crazy....running 98SE right now.

I'd say it locks 2 or 3 times out of 10.
