Some questions from a new xbox 360 owner

So I bit the bullet and ordered an xbox 360, the $350 package. It comes with a wireless controller, but does it come with a charge kit? Or will I be shelling out money for AA batteries until I buy their NiCad.. I'm buying 3 more controllers as well, not sure if I should go wireless too or wired, I mean wouldn't I need to buy another play and charge kit if I bought another wireless?

I'm thinking I would be saving some money in the long run if I went wired in the long run, anyone have any regrets on going wireless?

No, the premium doesn't come with a play and charge kit. I would invest in one, those controllers suck batteries. i probably get about 10-15 hours per set. As far as the controllers go, i would get wireless, but i'm not sure if you can buy the rechargables by themselves. If you can, you really only need one cord.

edit: looks like you can buy the batts by themselves. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hard...60rechargebatterypack/

I prefer that over the play & charge kit. Although honestly, I really should just use some AA NiMh cells like I do in my Wii remotes. Much cheaper. But I'm an idiot.

I don't recommend buying Nyko battery packs.

I wouldn't go with wired controllers if I were you, but it's really just a preference thing. Being untethered is a bit nice sometimes 🙂.

Just buy some AA rechargeables from a place like all-battery-outlet and keep them charged at all times. IMHO, the play and charge kits are rip-offs. Definitely don't buy wired controllers - the wireless one is just perfect.

The play and charge kit isn't included, but you can get them for about $15 shipped from Amazon. Includes the battery and usb cable. Battery is holding strong after six months for me, but I am not what you would call a "heavy" gamer.

some folks said it's cheaper to go with some rechargable AA & USB charger

but i wouldn't know, I can get free AA batteries 😉
power consumption is really great tho, a pair of AA could be spent in one long week-end
