Some questions about Newegg

I've never bought from Newegg before, so I am not clear about some of the stuff I'm gonna talk about.

Newegg's shipping costs still baffle me a bit. I know it's been said before that OEM products have a higher shipping cost than retail boxed products (because of the extra wrapping that goes into bare OEM stuff). Is it true that the savings on OEM vs Retail is eliminated, because of the added shipping cost for OEM?

I was browsing around Newegg and saw that they had a nice Newegg and Nvidia case stickers for 99 cents each. However, the price of the sticker becomes $6.99 after the shipping is added! :disgust: Now I know that shipping is expensive, and ya gotta have shipping costs. However, my question is...what if I buy a bunch of hardware (OEM Case+PS, OEM CPU (i know this goes in a seperate package all by itself), OEM DDR Ram, Retail Motherboard) and I put the Case Sticker in my Shopping Cart. Will the $6 shipping fee for the Case Sticker still be added to the total shipping accumulated by the other hardware items? I mean they can just put all the stuff I bought in 1 big box, and put the sticker in that big box too - thus saving on shipping costs since it all goes in 1 box.

Lets say I bought some stuff from Newegg on a Thursday. The shipping takes 2-3 days Fedex Express Saver. Are those days business days? (ie Will I get my packages on the weekend or will it have to wait til early on the next week?)

Would this not be answered more accurately by a newegg CSR? No weekend delivery. I saw that on the page where you select ground/2day/overnight.

some observations...

some of the items are not very well packed. luckily fedex does some adequate handling (on my stuff at least)...

why i think retail shipping costs more (for some products): retail items come in real boxes (processors) as opposed to oem which is just the chip and a tray. the extra box size, and the weight of the retail heatsink of processors pretty much increases costs.

why i think oem would cost more: the oem products sometimes do not come in boxes. thus require extra care.

newegg shipping: a complete mystery to me...

sure you can moan about shipping costs... but we all do. its your job to check shipping at most sites...

why do i return to newegg? cuz its a nice place to buy from, and nothing wrong has happened to me... at least...

I buy at TCWO.COM. You can get air shipping for $8.95 up to 150 pounds. That's lots of computer stuff. I do like Neweggs refurb section, but the shipping there does change depending on what they are charging for the product.

ya know, ATOT has turned into a newegg support forum. if you have issues or questions about newegg, wouldn't it be easier to just bring it up with them? there's a thread about them every few days...

as for weekend delivery, they use Fedex express saver which has no weekend service. this isn't a newegg thing, its a Fedex thing.
