I just picked up the Guild Wars trilogy 3 days ago and I'm wondering

1. I have a level 14 character, nightfall, when am I allowed to go to different continents? I'd like to go to the factions area to level faster and do more quests. I'm about 3/4 of the way through the Nightfall campaign.

2. How do you join a guild, seems like everyone is in one?

3. Whats your favorite builds? PVE? PVP? I've tried the Dervish/Monk 130hp build and it isnt for me, too much time trying to keep the enchantments up, not enough time filling. I might try Elementalist/Monk for the fire spells/mana regen next. Right now I have a Dervish/Monk that's only using the Dervish line of Scythe Mastery and Mysticism.

you have to talk to Funwa Shento in Kamadan to get the quest to go to Factions. You shouldnt be 3/4 of the way through the campaign if you are at level 14. The game doesnt really start until you are at level 20 and then you are still like not even 10% done.

Just ask around. There are hundreds recruiting people. Always join missions with people and maybe play a bunch in a row with the same people. If you like them ask if you can join. Try out a few guilds and see if you can find one you like.

If you play for awhile you will have to try every type. Every character combo has different things you can do and especially in PvP you will be changing you skills and professions often.

My advice is to try one melee and one ranged and just play through the game and then try other ones. You can also build a PvP character so you are already level 20 and play around with builds.

Oh and the 130 D/Mo build is a farming build for items and gold. Not really good to do until you have at least beaten the game and can play on hard mode. Stick to the normal builds and go through the game then you can try farming.

Also being a guild helps you progress they can give you many builds to try out.

I only really used guru for price checking and buying/selling expensive items. You might be better off playing with the people and then joining. You can get a better understand of what the guild is that way
