1. izzit better to install game files on the same hdd as the OS or different?

2.wats the difference between mobo DCDDR and DDR400?

3. 400DDR ram is known as 200mhz or 400mhz? cos i got a 512 mb ram DDR and saying its 200Mhz.

4. A motherboard DDR400 can use a 512mb ram 166Mhz DDR and a 512 mb ram 200Mhz DDR together or must use all 400Mhz DDR ram?

1) Different, if you have the choice. Doesn't make a noticable difference though. If you can put the Windows swap file on a different physical drive from the OS, that is supposed to improve performance.
2) DCDDR = Dual Channel DDR. It just means that you are running the DDR in dual-channel mode, which certain boards support. You need a matched pair of memory modules to do this.
3) DDR = Double Data Rate, meaning the RAM performs 2 memory operations per clock cycle (instead of 1). This doubles the effective speed the RAM. Hence DDR400 runs at 200MHz, DDR333 runs at 166MHz, etc.
4) If your motherboard supports 166MHz (DDR333), you should be able to run it, but BOTH memory sticks will run at the slower speed (DDR333 instead of DDR400). You will not be able to run in Dual Channel (DCDDR) because the sticks are not a matched pair.

Hope that helps.

Since you used the symbol "izzit" instead of the proper english "Is it" I will not answer.

Also: wats, cos

Under XP, you can set the swap file under System Properties / Advanced / Performance / Advanced / Virtual Memory.

I hate when people post crap regarding the use of proper English. Especially when your own lame blog has many English errors. Example from your blog: "So we have this pan of chicken and italian tomatoes in there...thankfully with a lid on it" Italian should be capitalized.

Another example: "fridge" It's refrigerator.

If you are not going to help the guy out then please don't post irrelevent drivel.

Sorry to go off topic woopypooky.

Fridge is a commonly accepted abbreviation of refrigerator. Italian...typo...so kill me. Oh excuse me I meant "typographical error."

I'm not complaining about a misspelling here. "Izzit" shows blatant disregard to the English language. Therefore I assume that there is further disregard with the later uses of "wats" and "cos."

I think that people should at least give a decent effort to utilize English properly. I don't care about misspellings or perfect grammar or anything of the sort. If he had typed "isit" instead I wouldn't have cared as it could have been a simple typo...err...typographical error.

It doesn't matter. I guess there are some people want to play grammar police.

Well, about the DCDDR, can i use 3 sticks of ram to run it in dual channel instead of two?

AFAIK, dual-channel requires matched pairs. So 3 sticks would not work.

In theory, any two sticks of identical RAM will work, but it's only guaranteed to work if you buy the RAM as a matched pair.

Won't work. 2, 4, 6 or 8 sticks of similar specs, sorry, specifications, are needed to run in DC mode. You can run 3 sticks but it won't be in DC mode.

8 sticks in DC would be the SHIZZNIT!!! :)
