Hello guys, here are some questions about oc.
1)Does OC reduce life cycle of cpu, gpu?
2)Does intel give warranty to k series processor after oc?
3)Does utilizing 100% of cpu,gpu most of the time affect its life cycle?
4)Does setting fan manually high in cpu,gpu affect its durability?
5)Which processor are best for world community grid type programs?I7 or Xenon?

Lets say you OC, and leave it on 100% load forever. With proper cooling, you might get 15-20 years out of the CPU instead of virtually unlimited.

Might be a bit of an exaggeration, but I have boxes that are loaded 100% for years, and still run fine, and are way outdated before they even think about dying.

When you load 100%, you do reduce some of the useful life of all of the components in your case, and you also draw more electricity, which you pay for. Generally, most components will still outlive their usefulness though, but you have to pay for the electricity.

Also it depends greatly on how much extra voltage is applied for your OC. A minor increase in voltage probably won't significantly decrease the lifespan of the CPU but the higher your voltage the quicker it will suffer from electromigration in the interconnects.

Heavy/Extreme OCing does (where you ramp up voltage in order to ramp CPU speed up +30% over stock) may shorten it. For mild OCing (ie, stock voltage +200-800MHz OCing) the effect will be very little. The effect "electro-migration" is often over-exaggerated though for typical consumer chip lifespan, and your CPU will be obsolete before it dies of old age (unless you fry it with too much voltage). It matters far more for stuff that's in service for decades, ie, computers in space for 20-30 years, etc.

Ok i got 1,2,3 ques ans. Pls tell me 4,5 que. In my gpu i notice in full load its temp 62 and using 47%fan speed.when i turn fan speed 100% its temp came under 56 in full load.is it okay to do?

They're already both fairly safe temperatures for GPU's. Anything under 70c is perfectly safe. In fact, many run theirs at 70-80c without issue (think of how much hotter mobile chips run in laptops and how many years some people make them last). Turning up fans will do zero damage to your PC (or the fan). The only real danger with fan speeds is turning them down too low on high end equipment causing temps to rise faster than the rate the fans can dissipate the heat.

Can't answer 5 as I have no experience with WCG. If I had to guess - probably the i7 if you overclock it higher than a Xeon and all else is equal.
