Hi guys, I'm working on getting my modem online in linux for the week I'm at home. I've been following this FAQ here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com//IntelFiveThreeSixEPModemHowto
It mentioned to get the kernel source and I assumed I had them. So i went ahead step wise and found myself in a problem when Linux told me the kernel source didn't exist on the computer (or something along those lines and then stpit out the version to me). So knowing I didn't have the net (and i'm stuck on 56k...) I tried to see if I could go into the package manager and install it...even though I couldn't find my CDs. In the package manager everything related to kernel source had the option to "reinstall package which made me hope the files existed on the hdd already. NOPE! Asked me for a CD so till I get back to my stuff I'm in an unfortunate situation
Now I went back to the faq to see exactly WHAT i need
sudo apt-get install build-essential linux-headers-386
So ulimately my question boils down to:
Is there a way to downlkoad those via Windows so I can later use them in linux?
btw, I'm more intersted in compling from source for this because I've noticed that following these FAQS helps me somewhat understand whats going from from the oiutput I see, and I like that....so I would prefer this over some DEB file.
That and I'm not sure if the DEB file is patched properly so I don't want to deal with it
