The difference is Hamas is doing everything it can to actually repeat what happened in WWII however their ability to get the job done is quite limited. If Israel was doing everything it could to remove the Palestinians, the news would be a lot different.

Libs are just pissed Jews won't lay down and repeat their "role" in WWII... which is to be the slaughtered victim. Then leftists would be able to "support" them in the sense of using their slaughter as a battering ram against some political opponent. (ie: calling people they disagree with Nazis). But as survivors and even (worse) turning the tables on those that would slaughter them, the left has nothing but venom for Israel.

Witness news reports about death tolls and the lefts general refusal to acknowledge Hamas using civilians as human shields (exactly because they are the tools that tactic is designed to play to).

They look at 200 Palestinian dead to 1 Israeli not as "wow, Israel does a great job of defending its citizens and Hamas does a great job of using its as cannon fodder" they see it as "its so unfair those evil nazi Israelis won't allow 200 of their civilians to die indiscriminately in rocket attacks to make things fair!!!"

I hope more and more Jews see the left for what it is. They only pretend to like Jews, and "support" them in the same way they "support" blacks: as victims, as people being slaughtered, as a downtrodden minority to be exploited. Once Jews are wealthy and successful, and don't allow their oppressors to slaughter them in droves, and WORSE, actually defend themselves from aggressive regimes- the left hates their living guts.

By the way, they'd do the same with the Palestinians eventually. If Palestine were a successful, wealthy state being pestered by some angry, aggressive, bloodthirsty neighbors pretending to be a perpetual downtrodden minority- they'd hate the living shit out of the Palestinians too and side with the angry neighbors.

Hilarious. For being such Jew haters, libs sure do elect them at a pretty high rate into the US congress. But hey, you conservatives have Cantor! Oh wait...

Oh dear. Another one who doesn't even know the bare basic facts about the region...

What basic facts are you referring to? That Israel stands for reason and Western Civization whereas Hamas and the Islamicists stand for religious primitivism? Are you referring to the fact that the Palestinians would be better off under an Israeli government than a Palestinian or Hamas government? Are your referring to the fact that Hamas is holding its own people hostage and wants them to get slaughtered?

Why does it even matter, given that the Israelis never pass up justification to blast the shit out of the Pals with American made weapons?

Thousands of rockets being fired at your civilian population is insufficient justification to defend yourself?

What if the Mexican government declared war on the United States and fired 150,000 (adjusted for proportion) missiles at American cities? Would you advocate for the removal of the Mexican government? Or would you recommend peace talks?

Indeed. America has been shamed into taking on a guilt trip over the Holocaust, despite the fact that we didn't do it.

It's possible that America turned away European Jews fleeing Europe. To that extent the nation has some guilt in the matter.

Obviously, you fail to realize that Israeli hard liners see the Pals the same way that the Nazis viewed their own ancestors. American fanbois have the same attitude- witness some of the comments in this thread.

The big difference is that the Palestinian people have acted extremely irrationally by actively attacking the Israelis. In contrast, the European Jews were peaceful merchants and scientists. Big, big difference.

If Israel would had the mentality and temperament of the Chinese, Russians, Iranians, or the Palestinians then the West Bank would be annexed, charred rubble at this point.

If I were in charge I would kick all of the Palestinians out of the Gaza Strip and annex it.

Inciting generalised hatred of an entire population and inciting genocidal ethnic cleansing.

Well done to this forum, the continued hosted theme of generalised violent hate speech remains consistent and clear.

If I was in charge Palestine would be restored to the 1966 borders and Israeli settlements would be handed over to the Palestinian people. The Arab section of Jerusalem would become/be recognized as the capital of Palestine.
you mean you want to give Jerusalem to the Jordanians and the Golan Heights to the Syrians?? 'cause that's what was around in '66. the palestinians had 0 land in 1966, now they have about 15% of israel.

you know there was a war and the post war agreements formalized that territory as part of Israel, and even after that war ('67) there was another war ('73) where 6 arab armies tried to take on israel and failed. so i don't see that ever happening.

Wow, what an asshole. Of course he doesn't represent the view point of all Israeli citizens.

As for the left not really liking Israel... you're fucking fooling yourself if you think that many of the right-wingers who financially support settlements do it out of love.

Episode 15 of Vice's season 2 had an interesting story about the biggest supporters of Israeli settlements which are a major point of contention.

http://www.hbo.com/vice/episodes/02...orist-university-armageddon-now/synopsis.html

I have seen the episode and it's rather interesting that people claim that the left hates Israel while ignoring that the reason a lot of the hardcore religious right "love" Israel is because they can speed up Armageddon by making sure every Jewish person moves to Israel.

Here is a transcript from the Vice episode.

While most Americans probably think the pro-Israeli lobby is largely a Jewish thing, actually most of its support comes from right here in the Bible Belt, where evangelical Christians overwhelmingly believe that Israel has a right to exist because God said so.
While a lot of Israel's financial support does come from Jewish wallets, there are close to 70 million evangelicalin America versus less than 14 million Jews worldwide, and, given that roughly 80% of these Christians support Israel, that makes American Christians the largest pro-Israeli voting block in the world, about 4 times the size of the Jewish community on Earth.
What's dicey about CUFI is that a good deal of their money for Israel is spent on buildings and organizations in the Israeli settlements.
These are massive Jewish communities built well within Palestinian territory in violation of international law.
The settlements are run by some of the most fanatical Zionists who believe the Bible entitles them to their land and that ceding any of it back to the Palestinians would be a violation of God's law.
God gave them that land.
They own that land.
While there's nothing wrong with Christians supporting Israel, the way these Christians have chosen to do so puts them firmly on one side of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, one that's directly opposed to the U.S. government's official policy

-snip-

Basically they have an ulterior motive for this support

Another Christian Holy Land tour leader is evangelical pastor Irvin Baxter, whose Endtime Ministries takes its flock to Israel twice a year.

The focus of their tours is actually the real reason evangelicals overwhelmingly want the Jews to control all of Israel, which is the actual end times, as in Armageddon, because, according to their interpretation of the Bible, Jewish control of the Holy Land will lead directly to the second coming of Christ.

It's also were Jesus lands at the grand finale of the end times, which doesn't pan out so great for the Jews.
It's Zechariah 13, I think-- maybe verse 7, 8, 9, right in that area-- that 2/3 will die.
through the fire, and that 1/3 will then turn to Messiah en masse when He comes back, and the scripture says that they will run out to Him, and when they bow to worship Him, Zechariah 13:6 says they're gonna notice He has got wounds in His feet and in His hand, and they're gonna say, "You're Jesus? "Oh, Messiah, we've been so stubborn.
"We've been so proud.
We've been so blind.
Could you ever forgive us?"
and 2,000 years of blindness is gonna come peeling off the Jewish mind, and those of us that have been up, caught up in the rapture and come with Jesus here-- Oh, because the Christians have been raptured out.

Yeah, that's some real love there.

The ending of this conflict might just never happen.

However a good start would involve

  • Hamas accepting the Egyptian proposed ceasefire (if that is even still on the table) and acknowledging the right of Israel to exist
  • Israel freezing the expansion of settlements
  • Both Israeli and Palestinian citizens getting rid of their respective right wing asshole leaders

The above unfortunately is probably even harder than trying to teach the majority of Americans basic civics.

imo it is the fundamentalists on both sides screwing it up for the region.

Having said that the initial spark that set it off was some group of Palestinian assholes going out and killing 3 Israeli citizens. It's even possible that it was done without the approval of Hamas leadership.

We should support Israel despite the dickishness of Netanyahu because it is a responsible state. After all they have 3 decades or so of being a nuclear power and they have behaved extremely well as such in the middle east.

However, if you are a dipshit who is going to say if people don't support all of Israel's policies then those people hate Israel then your credibility is non-existent and fuck you too.
