Had a job interview in Oregon a week ago Friday.
Didnt get the job, but took home some nice pics.
Absolutely gorgeous state, I cannot wait to move there in the future.
It was my first trip to the Pacific NW and have fallen in love.

Waldport, OR
Seal Rock, OR

Depoe Bay, OR

Can anyone recommend a good seafood restaurant in Depoe Bay?

I've always liked Horsetail falls more than Multnomah and it's less crowded.

Gistech1978, the entire state doesn't look like that, though. Most of the coastal areas, NW portion of the state, and northern boarder along the Columbia look like that, but the rest of the state isn't as beautiful. I'm lucky enough to live 60 miles from the Seaside. 🙂

There are other beautiful areas as well. Crater Lake, the Deschutes River and Lake Billy Chinook, and the mountainous areas around Bend come to mind.

yeah, the eastern half of Oregon im sure is far less scenic, however.. coming from the flatlands of middle America. I could handle what you call 'isnt as beautiful' pretty well.
😉

and i liked Horse Tail Falls too. They were all pretty crowded, though, but it was a beautfiul day, 9 days ago on Saturday. I guess I got lucky in that regard too, no rain.

I was just suprised at how friendly the people driving on the interstates were. If I had to merge over, they let me in. No one tailgated me too much, Im sure there are more than a few bad drivers there, but in my experience it was terrific and not stressful in the least.

Pics are ok, if a bit small. Area, otoh, looks very meh to me. Also have heard they get an average of about 70-75 sunny days there a year, which is a big "ugh" for me.

Only problem is everyone here drives too damn slow. 😛 I lived on the east coast for a while and when I got back it took me a while to adjust to that.

those are days totally devoid of clouds, rain, etc. often there is rain part of the day and sun for the rest

Ah, similar to Florida then?

No. I see the sun, but I also see lots of big fluffy white clouds today. It's not raining. It's quite warm outside. The days that aren't raining usually have clouds. It's EXTREMELY rare to see a 100% cloudless sky here.

We definitely get a low amount of totally cloud-free days. If you throw in partly sunny days, we're still probably at the low end, but a little closer to average. Don't get me wrong, it's cloudy here a lot.

On the plus side, it's a very temperate climate. It almost never gets to 100 degrees here (even 90 is relatively rare), and it's generally not humid when it does get hot. We also get very little snow in the Willamette valley because it doesn't get all that cold in the winter. Thunderstorms are fairly rare in the Portland area and obviously hurricanes and tornados are not a worry. Even the rainfall is not as heavy as you think, it does rain quite often but it's typically a light rain, almost never a true downpour.

And what amazingly beautiful area are you from?

Oregon is a relatively large state with more than one climate.
Central and Eastern Oregon is mostly a high mountainous desert, with less than 10" of rain each year. IIRC, Bend gets close to 200 sunny days a year. That ranks up there with Austin and Phoenix.
Southern Oregon (Ashland, Medford, and Grants Pass) has a climate similar to northern California, with 110 degree summers and less than 20" of rain/year, virtually all of which falls in the short, mild winter.
The most populous area, the Willamette Valley, has a mild climate where summer highs peak in the 90s and it almost never snows in the winter. With only about 35" rain/year, it gets less rain than New York City and has more sunny days per year than Pittsburg, Detroit, or Toronto. And most of the sunny days here are in the summer, where the weather is absolutely perfect every goddamned day. From mid-June until late October, it will be sunny and warm (hot from mid-July to mid-August) every freakin' day and, except for an occasional day here and there, no rain at all.

So get your facts straight.

The hell you talking about?

This state is gorgeous from top to bottom!

(BTW...where the hell did you have a job interview? You've got PICS from the top to the bottom of the state....and it's a BIG STATE.)

Well, the Eastern half of the state (everything East of Bend)....IS rather boring.

I  Bend. My home!

True, Oregonian drivers tend to be friendlier than much of the country. Who knows why.

You are thinking about coastal Oregon. MOST of Oregon is 'inland', across the mountains. In Bend, we have 220 days of sun a year. Amazingly, with that much sun, you'd think it would be desert (well, it IS technically a 'high desert')...but because we are so close to the mountains, we get enough runoff to keep everything fairly green with judicious amounts of watering.

Portland is kinda wet, as is Astoria, but....well, who wants to live there?!

My pics...

Coast:
The ever-overcast (but still gorgeous) Oregon coast
Haystack Rock by Cannon Beach
Lots of clouds make for incredible sunsets

Bend:
An unusually cloudy day in Bend
My House (sort of)
The Deschutes River through Bend
It's good for white-water rafting
Or, in some spots, just rafting in general
More of the river
Not bad greenery for a desert area with 220 days of sun a year, no?

BTW, did you walk up Multnomah Falls?

GODS, that's a hike! Thought I was going to DIE....but, then, it was probably near 100 that day, and I had overdressed a little (mornings start out so cool).

As to Depoe Bay....one of my favorite places to spend a night.

Stay at the 'Channel House Bed and Breakfast'. The rooms all have hot tubs on private porches facing the ocean. Which is cool, because it gets COLD at night....and Depoe Bay is VERY turbulent. The waves hit the rocks below the B&B so hard you can feel a steady spray on your face sitting in the tub. Which is, of course, hot and bubbling. Cool air, cool spray, with a hot tub. AWESOME.

Pic of the mouth of the bay

As to places to eat...well, we had pretty good food the last time we went there. Oceanus, I think? Don't recal, it was the newest place in town. Was pretty good. Tidal Raves was also pretty good when we went THERE (that was 3 years ago, though). Larger menu, but not QUITE as good.

Very nice pics! I love the falls!

The weather here in Oregon is pretty diverse across the state. I am originally from Klamath Falls (Southern Oregon, about 20 miles north of the California border) where the average is 300+ sunny days a year. It gets HOT in the summer (100+, although it is a dry heat 🙂 ), and cold in the winter, with plenty of snow (37" annual average).

I moved up here to the Willamette valley to go to college, and now that I have graduated I live and work in Salem. It is very beautiful around this area.......but I miss the sun!! 🙁

It is a beautiful state. I'm still conviced that we have the best summers in the world here. Plus, we have any kind of terain for any kind of activity. I b!tch about it a lot but in reality I <3 Oregon. Good luck finding a job here.

I believe he was the same guy who complained about too many flower pics in the "POST YOUR MACRO PICS HERE" thread.
