how hypocritical can you be? you are pro choice with regards to abortion and yet a pharmacists can't choose not to dispense certain medications? in this case it's not like it's life or death for the woman and it's not like there is a time urgency. sure, if he refused to dispense medications and that lead to immediate death of the patient i'd have a moral issue with it, but this is not such a case.

all they are doing is making a political statement and making it a bit more inconvenient for the patient.

Refusing to fill a perscription because of suspicion of abuse or illegal activities is fine. When you start making judgements on moral objections on birth control and morning after pills...time to find a new job.

It's not your place to be a moral crusader.

I would tend to agree...

But, let's say the scenario was a bit different, what if the pharmacy was privately owned by the pharmacist. Should she be allowed to dispense at her discression then?

If anything, it's a supremely stupid business move. I'd be willing to bet BC Pills are a good chunk of your average pharmacy's sales.

why not? i'm pro choice when it comes to abortion. i also don't have a problem with pharmacicsts that refuse to dispense certain medications. it's still a pro choice stand.

i don't agree with pharmacicsts that refuse to transfer the prescription tho.

Real pharmacists don't dispense medicine based on beliefs.
I'm sure that an insane pharmacist like the one mentioned in the article could be sued and fired.

One thing that makes me angry the most in life is people who try to impose their believes on others. If they're such good Christians they should know that Jesus said: "Don't judge and you won't be judged". Argh, this world is going down the drain and fast.

It shouldn't be much of a problem unless this was the only pharmacy in the general area. Just take your business elsewhere.

These aren't "good Christians" - these are the idiots who give the rest of them a bad name. :p

It depends on the state and if they transfered the order in a reasonably quick manner. Some states offer protection, some don't.

Why? Because it's not your job or your place to refuse to fill perscriptions based on moral objections. If it's *anyones* call, it's the person writing the perscription.

If you don't agree with gambling, don't work in a casino.
If you don't agree with smoking, don't work for RJ Morris.
If you don't agree with drinking, don't work for Miller Brewing.

If they are employees and their actions violate company policy, the pharmacists should be fired.

If they own the pharmacy and choose to do this, that is their right.

It it not a pharmacist's place to decide whether or not you have access to medicine prescribed to you by a DOCTOR.
