Some people just make me sick

Yesterday was the greatest day in the life of Faith, a two year old Basset - she became part of GABR! Her former "owner" decided to skip town and left Faith, along with her two companions, in the back yard.
Due to a series of circumstances, Faith was there for 6 weeks without food or water. When she came into a humane society in Southern Indiana, she was as thin as any dog we have ever seen, weighing in at approximately 17 pounds.
First of all, how can anyone abandon dogs like that. Hell, shelters take them for free. Furthermore, how can three dogs roam around a backyard for 6 weeks without anyone noticing?

Some people leave their children in the car in the summer.
It's 40C+ outside, mommy goes shopping and locks the little girl/boy in. No way out, extreme heat inside, heat suffocation guaranteed.
Some people threat other humans worse than animals. Sadly, leaving a dog in a backyard is not a rare phenomenon.
