Some people just live in too ideal of a world...

so i was hanging out with a bunch of my friends today..really smart, somewhat educated and all..and we got to talking about war and everything..and these girls were all talking about how bad war is, and that their solution is to solve everything through "peaceful negotiations".

we rarely discuss politics or anything, but i was always under the impression that they were a little better than that.

but i don't know, what do you guys think? am i wrong in being too narrow minded and kind of realistic to believe that "peaceful negotiations" simply aren't the answer to everything?

Hahah "peaceful negotiations". . . That only works so long as the parties doesn't disagree on any thing important. Have you ever tried to get someone to do something and they keep on saying "No," repeatedly? Did you want to beat the crap out of them then because you know that is the only solution?

The classic "How To Deal With a Peacenik":

1. Engage in conversation, and ask if military force is appropriate.
2. When he says "No," ask, "Why not?"
3. Wait until he says something to the effect of "Because that would just cause more innocent deaths, which would be awful and we should not cause more violence."
4. When he's in mid sentence, punch him in the face as hard as you can.
5. When he gets back up to punch you, point out that it would be a mistake and contrary to his values to strike you, because that would be awful and he should not cause more violence.
6. Wait until he agrees, and has pledged not to commit additional violence.
7. Punch him in the face again, harder this time.
8. Repeat steps 5 through 8 until he understands that sometimes it is necessary to punch back.

Everything cannot be solved with negotiations, that would be the perfect world and this place is so fvcking far away from it.

You should have demonstrated a little "peaceful negotiations" of your own, told them they're full of crap and jacked them upside their craniums. :)

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions I guess. There's a time to talk and a time to act, the real dilemma is knowing the difference between the two.
